Asked before you ask.
The things prospective clients raise on the first call, answered here so the call can be about your business instead.
01 What size of company suits you?
Businesses already selling something, with a budget that can carry the work for at least a full quarter. We are a poor fit for pre-revenue ideas, and a poor fit for one-off campaign execution where nobody owns the result.
02 How do you price it?
By scope rather than by package. After a first call we issue a written scope of work with the deliverables, the dates, the named people and a fixed project or monthly fee. Advertising budget is paid by you directly to the platforms and never carries a mark-up from us.
03 Is there a minimum commitment?
Builds run to a fixed timeline and finish when they finish. Ongoing work runs in quarterly cycles so there is time to produce evidence, then continues month to month with thirty days written notice either way. The full terms sit in our Billing and Cancellation policy.
04 Who owns the website and the accounts?
You do, with no exceptions. Domains, hosting, advertising accounts, analytics properties, tag containers, source code and creative files are set up in your name from the beginning and stay with you if we part ways. We have never held an asset hostage and will not start.
05 Can you guarantee results?
No, and treat anybody who does with suspicion. We guarantee the scope, the timeline, the seniority of the people on the account and complete candor about what the numbers say, including on the occasions when they say something we would rather they did not.
06 How is personal data handled?
Where we handle personal information for a client we act as a service provider on their written instructions and use it for nothing else. Tracking goes in behind a consent mechanism where consent is required, and if an approach would create a compliance problem we raise it rather than quietly building it.
07 Where are you, and who can you work with?
The studio is a United States limited liability company with its business address in Utica, New York. We work remotely with clients across North America and beyond. Engagements are invoiced in US dollars unless something else is agreed in writing.
08 We already have a developer. Can you do just the marketing?
Yes, and it often works well. We will want read access to the site and a line of communication to whoever maintains it, because recommendations that nobody can implement are worth nothing to you.
Still something unanswered?
Write to the studio and a person will answer it directly. We would rather spend ten minutes on your question now than have you find out the answer after signing something.
